"Ezo Squirrel" is a subspecies of "Red squirrel" and inhabits Hokkaido. The fingers have long claws that allow them to move around freely on tree trunks and branches. Also, the long, bushy tail helps to balance. The fur is brown in summer and gray-brown in winter, and winter hair is characterized by four to five cm of hair growing upward on the ears.
