Natsu-mōde(夏詣) in Hokkaido
これからの半年間の、人々の健康と無病息災を願う風習(日本)
<series 1:  Obihiro Shrine(帯広神社) and visitors>
The baiu front has stagnated in the Japanese archipelago, and the weather in Tokachi has been cloudy for several weeks since early July.  Finally, on a clear early morning, in the Obihiro Shrine precincts, birds were singing in the sunshine after a long absence.
After the rinsing step at Temizu-ya(手水舎), walked for the main shrine to pray, keeping on one side of Sandō(参道).  The Chigaya-no-wa(茅の輪), which passed by the priests at the Shinto ceremonies held on June 13, had set up in Shin-mon(神門).

Temizu-ya(手水舎)
Chōzu-ya or temizu-ya (手水舎, ちょうずしゃ、てみずしゃ) is a Shinto water ablution pavilion for a ceremonial purification rite known as temizu or chōzu (手水; "hand-water").  At shrines, larger water-filled basins, also called chōzu-bachi, are used by worshippers for washing their left hands, right hands, mouth and finally the handle of the water ladle to purify themselves before approaching the main Shinto shrine or shaden (社殿).

A lot of visitors visited the precincts of Obihiro Shrine amidst the fine weather and the intense heat; an elderly couple resting on the stone steps of Shin-mon(神門) and resting, a mother pushing her pram and passing through Shin-mon, a young man who politely pray.

The wind blowing over the water surface of Chōzu-bachi played the wind chimes hanging from the ceiling of Temizu-ya beautifully.
Looking back, I saw a pregnant woman and a girl about 3 years old, holding hands and walking towards the main shrine.  There was a cute heart mark on the socks of the girl's feet. It was a very happy moment.
