Hydrangea at Glover Garden(長崎)
The Glover Garden is an outdoor museum located at 8-1 Minamiyamate-cho, Nagasaki City. The site is where the Scottish merchant Thomas Blake Glover (1838-1911), who lived in Nagasaki after the Nagasaki port opened in 1859, built the “Glover Residence” in 1863.
In the Glover Garden, the Glover Residence and attached greenhouses, and historical buildings that remain in Nagasaki City are exhibited, and Hydrangea and other seasonal flowers bloom beautifully here and there.

The Glover Residence is located on a scenic spot on the hill of Minami- yamate(南山手), overlooking the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard(三菱重工業長崎造船所). The Glover Residence is the oldest existing wooden Western-style building in Japan and was built in the Southeast Asian colonial style.

The Glover Residence was acquired in 1939.  It was for the purpose of concealing the construction of the Battleship Musashi because the Glover Residence was located overlooking the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard.
