Episode ２/The Book of Elders (#Identity）

The story "Tree of Life" is a short-story fairy tale focusing on the daily life of a community born on a planet and the development of its children. The story begins with the birth of the main character, a sacred tree called the "Tree of Life." It describes how an event awakens the village's children to their own identity and how they build a creative and happy community life.

Episode ２: 
The Book of Elders (#Awakening)


The adults in the village, who had grown rich in life, forgot when to sow their seeds and harvest their crops; they forgot the language of the birds and the bees. The village elder began to tell the children an old story from his village, "The Tree of Life." He said, "Birds, bees, and insects are God's messengers, and God created mountains, forests, and rivers. The houses and furniture in the village were born from the Tree of Life. The children are God's children, blessed to be born."

He showed the children an old book that contained old maps of the village, how to build houses, how to make furniture, how to draw, how to sow seeds and harvest crops, pictures of the distant ancestors of the children's parents, blueprints of toys the elders had made as children, and ingenious ways to play with them, all describing how their ancestors had lived.
