When you walk along the promenade surrounded by fresh green while watching the smoke from Tokachidake, you will reach the Blue Pond( Aoi-ike) , one of the spectacular views of Biei town.
"Blue Pond" is a man-made pond located in Shirokane, Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaido, where water is collected on one of the dams built on the Biei River. These dams were constructed for the purpose of preventing the damage of the pyroclastic flow due to the deposits that occurred when Tokachidake erupted in 1988.

Tokachidake has a beautiful view from the Tokachidake Bogakudai(十勝岳望岳台), which is located about 40 minutes by car from JR Biei Station(JR美瑛駅). Tokachidake is an altitude of 2,077 meters and is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. Bogakudai(望岳台) is located at an altitude of 930 meters, and offers a panoramic view of the mountain, including the summit of Tokachidake. The lava flow at the time of the eruption of Tokachidake remains on the sidewalk, and in the fall it is a spot where you can enjoy the beautiful autumn colors.
